Mission

My mission is simple: to help improve the protection and care of children.

I do this by sharing useful knowledge, promoting new thinking and evidence, and providing advisory and consultancy support to governments, United Nations agencies, civil society and other organisations working in child protection.

My focus is on practical change: stronger policies, better programmes, better use of evidence and better results for children, families and communities.

Gender

Girls and boys can experience protection risks differently. Gender inequality can substantially increase the exposure of girls to particular forms of violence, exploitation and harmful practices, while gender norms can also create specific risks and barriers for boys.

Effective child protection therefore requires gender-responsive analysis, programmes and services that recognise these differences and address the underlying inequalities that contribute to harm.

Particular attention is needed to ensure that girls who face discrimination and exclusion are visible in data, policy, programme design and investment, and that responses are shaped by their experiences and perspectives.
