Just after retiring from UNICEF in March 2019, a friend sent me a photo of graffiti he saw in his neighbourhood. It read: 'Stubborn on strategy. Flexible on detail.' Reflecting on it, I realised this captured my approach: clarity on desired change while remaining adaptable to challenges and opportunities.
Fortunate to pursue my passion for human rights, I've spent over 30 years specialising in human rights across the United Nations, government, and civil society. Focused on child protection, I provide high-level technical support to safeguard children from harm in diverse contexts, fostering collaboration between NGOs and the UN. My experience includes achieving sustainable results in challenging environments like Papua New Guinea, Malawi, the State of Palestine, and Cambodia.
Awards include:
UNICEF Executive Director's Award for Dedicated Service, March 2019
Certificate of Appreciation: Best Motivator, UNICEF Cambodia Staff Association, September 2018
First-class honors for Master’s thesis on 'Child Protection in Development', University of Melbourne, 2008
Churchill Fellowship (2002) for research on juvenile justice best practices in the UK, USA, and Canada.
Feel free to reach out if you believe I can contribute to your important work.
