Welcome!
I often use to say that I had the best job in the world, working for the best organisation in the world and serving the most important people in the world - its children and our collective futures. Yet after 17 years with UNICEF, in 2019 my partner and I decided it was time to move back home to Australia and on to new challenges, opportunities and adventures.
And this website my friends, is one of those new adventures!
Child Protection in International Development will serve two goals.
On a career level, it will serve as a vehicle for promoting the services I provide as an international adviser and consultant on child protection.
On a personal level, it will serve as a platform for sharing resources and generating and promoting new knowledge in child protection in the field of international development.
It will have a strong but not exclusive focus on the Asia and Pacific region. This is the area of the world I live and have spent many years working in international development.
I will publish regular blogs and promote new ideas and thinking, hopefully in an entertaining and accessible way.
A world changed where all children, girls and boys everywhere are protected is at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). My contribution to making this vision a reality will be creating a site that can be a useful and timely resource on child protection in international development.
While this will be a small contribution in a large global effort, I hope to make it a meaningful one.
This is my mission at Child Protection in International Development.
Thank you for being here. Sign up for the blogs and feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Ideas on how to improve this site are most welcome.
